Located just outside Kilrush, this beautifully restored garden is the last remanent of the old Vandeluer Estate which occupied the adjacent clearing in the woods.

 

Widely regarded as one of the most scenic botanic gardens in the county, the gardens are located on 170 acres of woodland and offer a great family day out or an unforgettable and relaxing visit for any nature lover.

 

Scattery Island is located just offshore from the town of Kilrush in the Shannon Estuary. The island was inhabited from early medieval times until the 1970's.

 

The island is rich in historical buildings including; a monastic round tower dating from the early medieval period, several medieval churches, a napoleonic gun battery and a collection of other buildings from across the ages. The Island is also renowned for it's natural beauty and stunning sea scape views.

West

Clare Railway

The West Clare Railway offers visitors the experience of travelling by Steam Engine on a restored stretch of the famous West Clare Railway.

The rail line was immortalised in song by composer Percy French at the turn of the last century in the satirical song 'Are You Right There Michael Are You Right'  which was composed by French as a result of a somewhat sluggish journey undertaken in 1896.

A ride on the railway's restored steam engine 'Slieve Callan' provides insight into the history of Irish rail and is a popular attraction for train enthusiasits.  

Kilrush Golf Club is located just a half mile outside the town of Kilrush on the Ennis Road. The course offers a full 18 hole golf course designed by Dr. Arthur Spring in 1994 and cleverly incorporates the natural terrain and includes numerous spectacular and challenging holes. The course club house includes a bar and serves food.

Bens Surf Clinic provides a wide range of lessons ranging from beginner to advanced and caters for parties and team building events. The clinic is located in the seaside town of Lahinch and can be reached via the scenic coastal route connecting the coastal towns of Clare.

Located in the village of Doonbeg, roughly ten minutes drive from Kilrush. Doonbeg Adventures offers a wide variety of Boat Trips and Tours including; Whale Watching, Fishing Trips and Trips to the Aran Islands. Diving Trips can also be catered for.

Sailing from Kilrush Marina, Dolphin Discovery Kilrush provide regular Dolphin Watching trips on the Shannon Estuary. The estuary is home to a large population of Dolphins and offers passengers an unforgettable and close up experience with these wonderful animals.

No trip to County Clare would be complete without a trip to the towering Cliffs Of Moher. Located roughly an hour away from Kilrush, the cliffs are one of the most popular tourist attractions in Ireland and offer unforgettable views of the Atlantic Ocean from their incredible heights.
